Almost February??

So this past week has been pretty uneventful...read on if your bored. The first couple days were just normal days, I went to school and did homework and the rest of it! On Wednesday Andrew didn't have to work...or so he thought lol....so I skipped my late class and we got to go to the temple!!! The jobs Andrew has had the past year have made it very difficult to get to the temple so when I saw an opportunity to skip class and go..I took it! We went to the distribution centre to get Andrew some new garments and to get me some bigger sizes and the lady sent me home with the same sizes I already had....she even sized me up and told me all the girls my size were wearing the ones she sold to me...even though I told her I was putting on some weight and needed bigger ones....oh well for that plan. Anyways the session was really wonderful...I usually end up going to packed sessions so when I walked in and saw 10 people I was super happy. It is always nice to have a smaller session every once in a while. After the temple we got some DQ treats and headed home. Just outside of Lethbridge, Andrew and I saw this huge dust cloud on the other side of the road...and we were like...what the heck was that?? Then the dust settles and a deer is bouncing down the road....yikes!! Andrew pulls around to see if the people in the truck are alright and pulls up so we are facing the dying deer...so I freak out because I hate animals twitching out and dying and Andrew flips around again really quick...and we are back on our way home...hope those people were OK!

The rest of the week was also pretty boring. Brittany and I went out to One for the Money on friday night and it was a super good movie! We ate treats and chatted...I always love hanging out with that girl! Plus I am super excited to see that little bundle of joy!

On Saturday I worked all day and then went to the mall to pick up a couple items and realized my wedding ring was not on my finger anymore. I honestly remembered crystal clear that I left it at Thriftway but the girls could not find it....I was kind of freaking out...but because of the state I'm in...I should have been freaking out more...but I had this calm feeling that everything was going to be ok. So I sped home and found it on the bathroom floor...don't know how it go there ...LOL. Andrew and I went over to Miriam and Barry's and made them pasta salad and chicken wings and then we hung out for a little while. We brought Emma really close to all 4 of us and stuck her in this bouncy chair and then she would look from person to person as we each tried to make her laugh. It was SO cute...because she would look at Andrew and be like....who the heck is this guy...most times she would glance at me but then skip me because apparently I'm not very entertaining...she would give Miriam a big smile and then giggle at Barry...then back to Andrew again....HAHAH it is a nice memory!

Anyways...I better start reading before class starts! Have a great week everyone! ...so to the 5 people who follow me!!!

Cousins!!

This past week has been pretty dang good! I have been trying all different kinds of new recipes and Andrew and I have been rating which ones we like. Shepard's pie came in first this week but it had some very close competition. I also realized that I can only make 3 meals before we have to start eating leftovers because our fridge is sooo small. Andrew eats all the left overs because for some reason I love eating the meal the first time but the thought of eating it again makes me sick. That is fine for Andrew though because I think he loves just getting meals now...ahah I am such a bad wife...takes me a year to actually start cooking. Anyways I had a lot of reading to do this week because mostly all my classes involve tons of reading. I also had a test and got 100% on it which made me feel like a smartie pants!

On Thursday Andrew and I went out to lunch to celebrate not eating out in sooo long...we are saving tons of money! While we were there my parents walked in so we switched tables and had a good lunch with them. The rest of the weekend Andrew and I were both busy so we didn't get a chance to go on a date or hang out with friends but maybe this weekend we will!

On Sunday my cousin had his farewell and if you know anything about their family you know that there is a ton of them!! We had lunch at their house and I got to see all my cousins and it was great. We chatted tons and enjoyed talking about life and what everyone has been up to lately. I even consider some of the cousins of my cousins ...family...even though we aren't technically cousins haha. I don't really have cousins my age on my mom's side of the family so I just have to adopt some random people as my cousins because we get along really well. It was actually kind of funny because they were asking about all the juicy gossip in Lethbridge and I said " actually someone started a rumour that Andrew and I are getting a divorce....which seems strange because the two of us haven't even discussed getting a divorce" ...I assumed everyone would laugh and just think that was hilarious and then a couple of my cousin's cousin's were like...."actually I heard that rumour!!". So here I am thinking that this rumour is just the joke of a few immature YSA kids and all of a sudden I realize that holy moly!!! How many people have heard this rumour!!! Anyways we all had a good laugh out of it because of another situation that makes this rumour absolutely ridiculous but regardless....if anyone reading this has heard the rumour....IT IS NOT TRUE LOL!!!! OH and.....I have a reward for the person who finds out who started it !! ;) Anyways...all in all it was a great week and I'm hoping this one is even better!!

Happy Monday!

So this semester I have been contemplating doing a double major. I have taken a few classes in finance and I absolutely love it. I love accounting too but I really love finance. I have learned all about the stock markets and about how to invest your money and get the most "bang for your buck" ( economics term)...anyways I really believe that if I never end up working a day in my life that if I have some more knowledge in finance that I could be making money at home. So what do I do ??? Go out on a limb and take finance courses this semester. Well the plus about this decision is that finance and accounting are like 5 courses different from being the same degree. If I had started out doing finance I would have had to catch up on a lot of accounting courses but since I started in accounting all my accounting courses count towards finance electives. ANYWAYS...regardless of what I decide I will have a degree by the end of the semester but if I want to go back and do a double major I can do that as well. The point of this rant...is that finance classes are in the afternoon and there is only one section of each class...therefore you take what you get. So on Mondays I don't have to be at school till 1:40 which has its pros and cons. Pros----I don't have to do anymore guilty studying on Sunday night because I have three exams on Monday morning before noon. Cons--I have to find things to do for 6 hours before school starts and be there till 5:45.

This morning I ended up waking up at 8:30 and reading the last Hunger games book till about 11.....I'm so close to being done! Then I got ready and made some yummy lunch. I got out the ingredients for dinner so I can make it right when I get home and did some reading for class. Overall today has been a good way to ease back into the week.

I don't really know what else to blog about. This weekend Andrew and I went to a young marrieds dance which was really fun and hung out with Miriam and Barry. Saturday we went grocery shopping, went to in-case-of to start on our self reliance goals and brainstormed on ways to budget for the coming months.

Andrew also ran his police tests this week..the physical ones...and he basically was the best in the group! There was about 20 of them and one guy beat him by mere seconds on the obstacle course but Andrew kicked everyone's trash at the running laps....so in my mind he basically was the best :) I really hope he gets on with the police this time around because we REALLY want to buy our first house and start living life!!!

Christmas/New Years

So I realize I have been MIA for the past couple weeks but my Mac doesn't work with our internet at home and I haven't been at the school either so I couldn't really blog ;) That being said, Andrew and I have had an AWESOME Christmas holidays. I haven't been able to spent hardly any time with my husband since we went out to sell security systems so it was a nice break that I got to spend with him. The first week Andrew was still working so I just chilled at home, caught up on some sleep I missed from exam week and went christmas shopping! This year we tried to cut back and I was pretty good at staying in my $20 per person limit...Mom says we will pull names next year which would be sweet! I would rather spend $80 on something really nice for someone instead of $20 on little things. On Christmas "Adam" we went out to New Dynasty with the Hendry's and had dinner as well as played games and Uncle Ron and Aunt Paula's new house...which is beautiful by the way. On Christmas Eve we went over to Grandma and Grandpa Lyons house and enjoyed a quiet evening because our family was the only one who could come this year. We slept at my parents house and had Christmas morning with them followed by church with the Maclean's and a delicious Christmas lunch. The girls spent the afternoon chatting and holding (fighting over holding) baby Emma while the boys set up the generator they bought for Brother and Sister Maclean. At 5 we went over to my Grandma Lyons' house for another delicious Christmas dinner and we were all stuffed full of turkey by the end of it! Andrew and I received awesome gifts which included scented candles, ironing board, blu-ray player, DVD's, tickets to Lady Antabellum and movie passes. Andrew got a sweet new wallet and I got a lulu jacket. We also got lots of chocolate and little stuff.

During our weeks off we enjoyed time going to movies, hanging out with our families and eating dinner together at a reasonable time. We are really lucky that my grandparents, Andrew's parents and my parents all live within 5 minutes of each other so it was pretty easy to see both our families every day.

New Years eve was interesting haha...we decided to spend our new years eve with Breanne and Kevin but we really didn't know what we wanted to do. We started off the night playing board games and chatting and then we decided to go to the married's dance......we thought there might be a couple young couples there....but...we were wrong...so very wrong lol. I think the youngest couple there was in their late 40's... and I am 21...so it was a big adjustment haha. We stayed for maybe 5 minutes to say hi to Breanne's parents and then we decided that we should head over to the YSA dance. We got to the YSA dance and a couple people wondered why we were there but in the last year that was been quite the turnover because I hardly recognized anyone....which was nice because we danced and had fun and no one really got mad at us for being there :) At about 11:30 we headed for my Uncle Ron's to ring in the New Year with my family and we ended up having a great night despite the lack of belongingness haha.

New Years day was also a Sunday so we went to church ( ughhh 9AM!!) Andrew taught his class and then we had dinner at my parents house. They had a big chilli dinner and a lot of my mom's side of the family came over so it was pretty packed over there. On Boxing day Andrew and I decided to fight the crowds and find some deals....we didn't really find any deals but I bought a nice sweater that was on sale and we got a couple other items.

During our last week of holidays we went snowboarding, spent time with Britt and Mikail, played games, ate lots of food and relaxed....it really was a wonderful holiday. I am not very excited to be back at school because the last 3 weeks just flew by!!! Oh well....it is my first day of my last semester and I couldn't be happier!!! Almost done...final push...I can do it !

Why did I take 6 classes again???

So 5pm marked the end of my mad rush of exams. I have just wrote 4 exams in the last 48 hrs....man was I going crazy!!! Today after I wrote my cost accounting exam I actually contemplated quitting school and just working as a receptionist or something. My brain is completely shot at this point in time and I still have 2 more exams to write!!!!! I continue to keep in mind that on friday I am having a super fun crafts night with my girlfriends and that friday afternoon I am going out to buy another season of Greys to relax my brain during Christmas holidays. I don't really have anything exciting to write seeing as all I have done in the past week is study, eat and sleep. Christmas will be full of me laying around so if you want to do something then call me up :) Oh and does anyone have any good gift ideas for a 25 year old male??

ARG

I hate finals week. Especially this finals week. I am pretty sure that if you go into it with a negative attitude you won't succeed but I just needed to blow off some steam. I have 6 finals this year, 4 of which are on monday and tuesday. I have International and Law on Monday and Cost accounting and Tax on Tuesday. I have a day break then I write corporate finance and then Intermediate financial accounting...oh what a joyful day it will be next friday afternoon when I am at Michael's buying craft supplies for my girls craft night! Yesterday I was totally in the zone and I studied for about 12 hrs...today I just haven't been able to get into it. I ate a good breakfast, I am chewing gum, keeping hydrated but I just can't concentrate...I guess there is just too much on my mind!! gah. So if any of you studiers read this, comment on study habits that help you when you just can't get into the zone. On the bright side, Andrew has the day off so he is going to pick up our new couches..maybe I will study in those tonight because my back is just killing me from these dang chairs haha! Also, I wanted to rant about people who come to the library to study and then just talk to their friends the whole time...oh yeah and they are sitting in the quiet section...with people all around...getting more and more frustrated. I totally get wanting a break to quietly whisper with your friend but talking for like an hour is so ridiculous!! The library made a loud zone for a REASON. Anyways I don't have much else to rant about....I'm thinking I better go read a scripture or something to calm me down and get me in the zone haha...yesterday I read the ensign article about being grateful and it was awesome!!
Well wishing everyone good luck with studying and exams..... :)

Oh this week has been eventful!

So many things happened this week...they aren't actually too crazy but one of them was really crazy. So the other day I was walking to the school from the institute building( if you have never walked from the institute building to the Uof L then you won't know that you walk across a little patch of road till you get to an island thing where you then wait for it to be your turn to walk across University Drive). To go across the little strip of road you have to walk down a little hill thing and most drivers will yield to the pedestrian even when we are at the top of this little hill thing. In all my time walking from the institute building to the UofL I have always been surprised at how good drivers are around this intersection. This is probably because it is a super busy intersection and there are students walking everywhere. Anyways, because most days I have vehicles that stop when I'm on the top of the hill, instead of right before I cross, usually I can see them and I don't have to check if someone has stopped for me. This has caused me to have quite a bad habit of not even looking before I cross because usually they have stopped for me. On this particular day, I think it was Tuesday, I was just about to cross this patch of road when instead of checking I almost felt someone physically stop my body from walking across the road and right as I was wondering what the heck I was doing frozen in place a purple van zoomed past me. He was not only driving super fast around this bend but he was also really close to the curb. If I would have stepped out...which I usually do...wait make that ALWAYS do...I would have been squished like a pancake...i honestly don't think I would have had any chance of survival he was going so fast. So I was somewhat in shock and my heart was pounding like crazy as I walked to the school thinking " I almost just died... I'm not even being dramatic..I almost just got smushed....Andrew could have come home to a dead wife tonight...oh that would have been horrible". Mom and I went out for lunch that day and I was telling her my story and she said "don't tell your dad" and I was like "why not?" and she said " this morning your dads friend had a son that got killed because a girl didn't yield to him....and his wife just had a baby this summer"...so yeah it was a pretty crazy day. I obviously have so much more to do on this earth and I always hear stories like this but never has it actually been me that has been so close to getting killed, I am so grateful I still get the chance to do all the things I plan to on this earth and this experience has really made me appreciate my life.

Onto a lighter topic....hahah I almost done school!!! The next couple weeks are going to be....hard...I am thinking of another H-word but I won't say it lol!! I have 4 exams in two days...which means I have to be prepared for all 4 of them next Sunday. Then I have 2 more exams that week but I should have enough time to be prepared for them. I am done on the 16th so I get 3 whole weeks of Christmas holidays which is muchly needed. My girlfriends and I are going to do some crafts and I plan to read all the books I have been waiting to read all semester!! I am also getting quite good at making stew....I am making stew tonight for Andrew..hope he doesn't read this...but we are going to have a nice dinner date tonight with candlelight...and I hope he brings me some flowers home :). The 20th of November was our 2 year anniversary and exactly 1 year from when he proposed...I cannot believe how fast time has flown but we are super excited to hit our 1 year of marriage mark. Anyways I need to do my homework now but I hope everyone is enjoying the Christmas season!
